There were many, many of these very old, abandoned (and not abandoned) beautiful buildings in the countryside.
It was a very deep green.
We got used to this kind of skyline with beautiful yellow plaster buildings and domes on little hills. They're completely typical of all over Italy. But at this point it was quite a novelty.
Dayna had the coolest accessories.
The Portoni della Bra. This arched gateway is kind of the "entrance" to the Piazza Bra in Verona. A "Bra" is a big open area, and Verona's Piazza Bra is lovely. The walkway you stroll down the Bra on is know as the Listone.
The Portoni della Bra with the attached Torre Pentagona. "Pentoginal Tower" would be my guess as to the translation, don't you think?
The clock on the arch has only one hand because at that time they didn't bother with the precision of a minute hand. It's showing 5pm.
Verona has its own ampitheatre, The Arena. It's in better shape than the Colleseum. It's of a similar age, and just a little smaller.
The Listone of the Piazza Bra in Verona. The Arena is on the right. We walked down the little street just to the left where hundreds of little stores are.

Walking down the narrow streets.
This is the graffiti-covered door of the Capulet house. The sign futally asks people not to post graffiti.

The Capulet's courtyard. The balcony is on the right.
Note the statue of Juliet on the left side. Her breast has been polished by countless tourists rubbing it for luck.

The black lining of Ignazio's jacket makes this picture look like he's plump. He's not.
